June 9, Renowned Science Broadcaster Dr. Michael Mosley Found Dead on Greek Island

Dr. Michael Mosley, a renowned TV and radio presenter, has tragically passed away after being found on the Greek island of Symi. His wife, Dr. Clare Bailey Mosley, has shared a heartfelt tribute, expressed her sorrow and highlighted the exceptional life they shared.

“Michael was my wonderful, funny, kind, and brilliant husband,” Dr. Bailey Mosley stated. She revealed that he had taken the wrong path and collapsed during a walk. Dr. Mosley, 67, was reported missing on Wednesday after leaving Agios Nikolaos beach. His body was discovered near Agia Marina beach bar early on Sunday.

Dr. Bailey Mosley described their life together as incredibly fortunate. “We loved each other very much and were so happy together,” she said. Dr. Mosley was last seen setting off on his walk around 13:30 local time (11:30 BST). CCTV footage shows him navigating rocky terrain and intense heat, making for a challenging journey.

“We’re taking comfort in the fact that he so very nearly made it,” his wife continued. “He embarked on an incredible climb, took the wrong route, and collapsed in an area difficult for search teams to see. Michael’s adventurous spirit was part of what made him so special.”

She also expressed gratitude towards the people of Symi who tirelessly searched for her husband. Symi’s mayor, Eleftherios Papakalodouka, confirmed that the body was found during a coastal search with cameras. A police source indicated that Dr. Mosley had been deceased for several days.

Dr. Michael Mosley‘s body was located next to a fence, with an umbrella nearby, about 30 minutes’ walk from the village of Pedi. A bar manager discovered the body after being alerted by the island’s mayor. “They called me and asked if I could check something they saw from afar,” said Ilias Tsavaris, the bar manager. “When I walked up, I saw what looked like a body.”

Search efforts had been extensive, involving helicopters, drones, firefighters, dogs, local residents, and officers from Symi and beyond. A police officer even broke his leg during the recovery mission. A coroner has since examined the body, and authorities have ruled out any criminal act.

Dr. Mosley’s family, including his four children, joined the search on the island. Dr. Bailey Mosley expressed gratitude for the global outpouring of love and support. “Michael meant a huge amount to so many people,” she said.
