On the formal birthday of King Charles III, Kate Middleton the Princess of Wales, was the center of attention.
As part of the Trooping the Colour ceremony on Saturday, Kate, 42, made her way back into the spotlight. This was her first formal appearance since she disclosed her cancer diagnosis earlier this year.
She was spotted grinning with her three kids in a horse-drawn carriage on a rainy Saturday morning in London as the procession traveled from Buckingham Palace to Horse Guards Parade. From the carriage window, Prince Louis, six, was photographed waving to the crowds.
Later, Kate Middleton the Princess of Wales was spotted with Prince William, Charles, and Queen Camilla on the balcony of Buckingham Palace.
The Ceremony Begins
The British monarch’s formal birthday is celebrated with an annual military event, to which Charles also attends following his cancer diagnosis.
“She is here today, and most of us are surprised,” Nicholl remarked. “We know that during their shared cancer struggle, the King and the Princess of Wales have been actively supporting one another behind the scenes”. This, then, is the height of support.
The Household Cavalry Mounted Regiment accompanied the King and Queen out of the palace in a convoy of royal carriages as the ritual got underway. Charles then conducted the ceremonial review of the guardsmen and officers from his carriage. Then, as the British national hymn blasted over speakers, Charles was given a royal salute by servicemen outside Horse Guards Parade. Among the spectators were British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak and his spouse, Akshata Murty.
A Display of Military Spectacle
Soldiers wearing bearskin fur helmets and scarlet coats marched in the customary display of military spectacle, while military bands provided music.
At his first ceremonial birthday parade last year, Charles examined the troops on horseback, carrying on his mother Queen Elizabeth II’s 1986 custom, which she abandoned at the age of 60.William went riding this year with his aunt, Princess Anne, and uncle, Prince Edward.
The Elite Military Horses
Tennyson, Vanquish, and Trojan, three of the five elite military horses that went missing in April and galloped miles through central London without a rider, were among the 242 horses that participated in the ceremony. The two others, Quaker and Vida, are still recovering, but they have been restored to excellent health.
Charles and Camilla returned to Buckingham Palace when their inspections were over, amidst thunder, lightning, and summer rain that drowned the throng.
At the conclusion of the ceremony, they gathered with their families on the balcony to witness a Royal Air Force flyover, which happened right before the bad weather cleared.

Kate provided an update on her cancer treatment in a statement on Friday, stating that she was “not out of the woods yet” and that she experienced “good days and bad days.” Although she was “making good progress,” she stated that a few more months of treatment were ahead of her.
